Faulty water heater element causing main switch RCD tripping

Called out to a beautiful home in Monagroulli this week, customer was experiencing intermittent power loss to the entire home, the main switch RCD in the meter cupboard would trip every few hours during peak usage. Fault was traced back to a faulty water heater element that although was not in use, it still had the neutral connected due to the lack of a four pole isolator on their 3 phase distribution board. This is a typical problem in Cyprus, many Cyprus electrical contractors not understanding that they should be using four pole isolators on 3 phase consumer units with TT Earthing systems.
