• If when you tun on your water heater switch the main power switch goes off, then it's probably a corrosion fault with your water heater element that's causing a short circuit. The element will need replacing.
• We can come out to you today, test the element with an insulation resistance tester and confirm if the element needs replacing. To replace the element (Immersion heater), the hot water tank will need to be fully drained first by a qualified plumber.
• Once we have replaced the water heater element with a new long life Incoloy element, we will then test the circuit wiring to ensure electrical safety and compliance with wiring regulations. If any upgrades are needed to ensure your safety with the electricity circuit, we'll confirm everything first and give you a quotation.

Because it was working before does not means the circuit wiring is safe to reconnect. Plumbers do not have the electricians license to check the electrical circuit supplying the water heater, yes a plumber can drain down the water tank and replace the water heater element, but the final connection and electrical testing to confirm the circuit wiring is safe to reconnect should only be done by a licensed electrician with the correct test meter that covers insulation resistance, RCD test and earth loop impedance.
